Five series for fans of survival stories
From The Walking Dead to Colony: five fictional series about disruption, decisions and cooperation. Viewing ideas, not emergency instructions.
A survival series can be gripping because everyday certainties disappear. Food, communication and trust suddenly become stories of their own. These five titles from our earlier selection explore that in different ways. They are fiction and entertainment, not instructions for a real emergency.
5. The Walking Dead
A group of survivors tries to carry on after a zombie outbreak. Alongside the threat, the story explores how groups form, how people face scarcity and how they make difficult choices. Who considers others, and who acts alone?
It suits viewers who enjoy long-running character development and suspense. Its violent world is deliberately heightened. Do not treat behaviour in the series as a model for real preparation. See AMC's series information.
4. Survivors
In the British series Survivors, a small group tries to rebuild life after a pandemic. The question is not only what supplies they can find, but how strangers cooperate when familiar services disappear.
The interesting perspective is their dependence on skills and on each other. The medical scenario is part of the story, not a basis for assessing real health risks.
3. Under the Dome
A town is cut off from the outside world by a mysterious dome. Residents face limited resources and conflicting interests, making this a story about a community under pressure.
The supernatural premise belongs to science fiction. Much of the tension comes from how people respond when their normal options vanish.
2. Revolution
Revolution imagines a world where electricity disappears and everyday life changes dramatically. Its adventure centres on family, power and the search for answers.
Viewers interested in power outages will find plenty of dramatic imagination here. The fictional cause and consequences do not explain how a real electrical outage works.
1. Colony
Colony follows people trying to keep families and relationships together under an occupying power. Loyalty, secrets and the consequences of decisions drive the suspense.
Choose it for a combination of science fiction and social tension. Expect uncertainty in a dramatic story, rather than a practical course in survival skills.
