Pick tools around what you carry every day, not around what does the most. Light is the first call: a headlamp keeps both hands free for repairs or pitching a tent, while a flashlight throws further when you need to see across a yard or a trail. Take one of each and standardise on a single battery size, so your spares stay simple. For cutting and fixing, a multitool wins as soon as you only want to carry one thing; for a fixed, repeated task a dedicated knife works better. Finish with the parts people forget: backpacks and bags to carry it, plus rope, water bottles and emergency whistles.
