Start with where the kit will be used. At home, weight is irrelevant, so a roomier set with plenty of dressing material makes sense. In the car, size matters and so do the temperature swings a boot goes through. For a backpack or bike, a light pouch with a water repellent shell is the better fit. Compare contents lists rather than item counts, because a hundred plasters do not make a kit more complete. Check the expiry dates on sterile dressings and note them in your calendar. To top a kit up, combine a base set with single items from Emergency blankets and Hygiene. In use, always follow the instructions of a trained responder or the emergency operator.
Frequently asked questions
The core is sterile wound dressings, quick bandages, plasters, an elastic bandage, adhesive strips, scissors, tweezers, gloves and cleansing wipes.
