Respirator masks

Start with how much of the face you want covered. A full face respirator seals around the whole face and keeps the eyes behind a visor; a half mask is lighter and more compact but needs separate goggles. Next, check the filter connection, because that decides which filters fit: many masks use the common threaded standard, while some brands use their own bayonet fitting. Pick the filter class from the product specification rather than by guesswork. Treat filters as consumables: they load up during use and also carry a shelf life while still sealed. Keep spares aside, and remember that facial hair on the sealing edge disturbs the fit.
