Lash, rig and repair

Rope & Cord

Paracord and utility rope for pitching tarps, lashing gear and repairs. Type III paracord breaks at around 250 kilos.

Rope is the one item you almost always have too little of. Type III paracord, also sold as 550 paracord, has a breaking strength of roughly 250 kilos and a sheath containing loose inner strands you can pull out for fishing line, sewing thread or a bootlace. Utility rope is thicker and less stretchy, and it is meant for lashing and tensioning rather than fine work. One caution: paracord is not climbing rope and is not intended to secure people, and you should seal cut ends with a flame so they do not fray.
