Multi-Tools

A multi tool does not replace a toolbox, but it does replace the toolbox you left at home. Most models pair a set of pliers with a blade, screwdrivers, a saw, a file and a can opener, which covers the majority of repairs you meet on the move. Choose on the functions you will genuinely use rather than on the highest count: solid pliers and a decent blade matter more than twenty small bits. Then weigh up the carry, since a tool on your belt, in a bag or in a kit each suit a different size.
