Biofilm drops with silver and copper ions are a simple solution to a common problem with gravity water filters: algae growth in the lower collection chamber. Because Black Berkey filters deliberately add no chlorine, a biofilm can form over time in stored, filtered water. These drops prevent that. How it works Silver and copper ions have been known for centuries as oligodynamic elements that inhibit the growth of bacteria, algae and fungi. By adding a few drops to your lower filter chamber, the water stays clear and free of biofilm. The added concentration is too low to give any taste or health difference in normal use. Dosage A few drops per litre of water (see the packaging for the exact dosage). One 60 ml bottle lasts many months to more than a year in normal use.
