The Burn Black water filter is a gravity filter element that makes an attractive alternative to the more expensive Black Berkey. The set contains 2 filters, together good for approximately 3000 litres of purified drinking water, which covers well over a year of daily use for an average family. How the Burn Black works The filter works via an activated carbon composite in a porous ceramic shell. Water flows by gravity from top to bottom through the filter medium, removing or reducing bacteria, protozoa, chlorine, sediment, heavy metals and many chemical contaminants. Performance Bacteria: >99.9% removal. Chlorine and organic compounds: high efficiency thanks to the activated carbon. Heavy metals such as lead: significantly reduced. Viruses: partial reduction (for full virus protection, combine with other methods such as UV or tablets). Compatibility Fits the Burn water filter housing and is physically similar to the Black Berkey, so many users also fit the Burn Black in a Berkey housing (at their own risk - without an official warranty).
