The Berkey Royal water filter is the mid-size-plus in the Berkey family and is popular with larger families and home preppers who want a bit more buffer than the Big. With a capacity of 11.4 litres and a flow rate of up to 26.5 litres per hour, you have plenty of purified drinking water for a household of 4 to 8 people, without electricity or a mains connection. Gravity filtration You fill the upper 304 stainless steel chamber with tap water or surface water. Under gravity, the water flows through 2 to 4 Black Berkey elements to the lower chamber, where you draw it off. No pumps, no power, no monthly cartridge replacement. Black Berkey technology The Black Berkey elements filter out bacteria and viruses (>99.999%), protozoa, chlorine (100%), heavy metals such as lead, mercury and arsenic, pesticides, pharmaceutical residues and microplastics.
