Berkey Primer Black - Clean & Prime Your Berkey

The Berkey Primer Black is a simple hand pump designed specifically to activate new Black Berkey filter elements and to clean them in between uses. New Black Berkey filters contain tiny air bubbles in the filter medium, which first have to be forced out before water flows through properly. Without a Primer you do this with the corner of a tap or a garden hose, which is awkward and slow; with the Primer it is done in just a few minutes. How to use the Primer You attach the rubber priming piece to the bottom of the filter element. Then you manually pump water through the element until no more air bubbles come out. For interim cleaning, you use the Primer to push water back through the element under light pressure, loosening any deposits on the surface. Compatibility Suitable for all Black Berkey filter elements in the Go Kit, Travel, Light, Big, Royal, Imperial and Crown. Also usable for Berkey PF-2 fluoride filters (similar procedure).
